These instructions are for travelers who want to visit Pushkin, otherwise known as Tsarskoye Selo, without "organized" tour companies. Folks, if you are looking for adventures in the most hidden historical places around the world, we will make an attempt to describe the route in the most understandable way.
To get to Pushkin, you can take the train or the bus (or mini-bus). You may have to speak several phrases in Russian in order to acquire a bus ticket or rail road pass, and explain to mini-bus driver where, exactly, it is you want to go. If you want fewer interactions – or no interactions at all – the best way to go is by train. You can take a train from two possible locations:
Vitebskiy Rail Road station (located at the red line Pushkinskaya Metro station)

Kupchino Rail Road station (located at the blue line Kupchino Metro station)

From the Pushkin train station, the hike to the Royal Palaces will take 25-40 min., depending on the speed, or, if you decide to use public transportation, approximately a 15 min. bus ride.

The trip back to St Petersburg, which is possible not only by bus or train, but from the Pushkin Railroad Station.
